At age 17 (2017) I decided not to go to college. The reason? I was not sure any university could offer me the value I wanted. I was not up for another four years of reading things I wasn’t interested in, listening to people I did not look up to - all for a degree. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and started Emma’s College.
I learned everything I could about self directed learning. And applied my findings to myself. Methods that worked stayed, and everything that didn’t got thrown out.
I was my own guinea pig. And everytime somethign worked I was excited to share. This is how Emma’s College turned into my business. I consult companies and schools on their learning strategies (T-mobile
I graduated high school in 2017 and then decided not to go to college. Instead, I made the world my university and designed my own college education.
Entrepreneurship became the vehicle for my development and since then I've learned a lot of cool stuff. I'd be lying if I said there was a grand masterplan all along. There was not. I just figured it out along the way. Know that quote about building a plane while you're already falling? Well I did that.
It wasn't always easy, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. EMMA'S COLLEGE is an archive of the things I've learned and an evergrowing documentation of the things that work for me. Maybe it can help people who are doing something similar, or want to try self-directed learning. Or maybe it will be just something cool to show my kids someday, who knows.
I've built EMMA'S COLLEGE on Notion, which is the best note taking tool ever made. (They're not public yet, but trust me - I'll be the first to invest 😉). It's works pretty intuitively, so my advise would be: just click on everything that looks like a link and you'll have figured it out before you know it. But just to clarify: everything that is underlined and is preceded by an emoji is a page. Just click on it and it will open.
EMMA'S COLLEGE is an ever-growing and always improving archive. Some things might be outdated at some point, it will never be complete and nowhere near perfect. It is made with love however, and I hope that does the job 😉
